Back in the Groove

I haven't posted in a while. I have been regrouping with my stitching. I have done some research and worked on some projects and changed my approach.

After a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum this past January, I am further inspired. There are some amazing old pieces that are still intact after many years.

I held the oldest sampler on record in its frame and it nearly brought tears to my eyes knowing I was holding a sampler that had survived 400 years. The effort to bring that sampler to fruition was amazing. The process to dye, treat, prepare all before the stitching was to begin.

Another Search

So I went for a two hour round trip drive to Cochrane today. I have visited the charming store there and signed up for a Blackwork class. I am excited about particpating and look forward to completing the hummingbird pattern I purchased today. I am working on a permin of copenhagen pattern right now... flowers and berries...

will check in later but I am still on the search for the JBW pattern.

Why can't I find it?

So I have started looking into patterns for stitching. As I am currently located in Calgary, I find that the majority of my stuff has to come from the internet. I like more traditional monochromatic patterns typically, but I am working on several mainstream Dimesions etc type patterns. I am looking to get involved in a needlework/stitching club in Calgary that is a weekend group. Does anyone know of any?

Currently spending a lot of time looking at world wide sites, doing primarily American and British research and sourcing materials from all over the world. However, I am doing a danish project, a classic german project and dabbling a tiny bit in design. I did complete my first rough project for Christmas '08 called fish hedge maze.
